Taking the pavement up Mount Lemmon just northeast of Tucson, Arizona is a stunning and well-known road ride. While in Arizona for a week of gravel adventuring and bike testing, we decided to tackle the gravel backside of Mount Lemmon with our friend Yuri Hauswald.
Mistakes were made.
Suffice it to say, before setting out for a big day off the well-traveled tarmac, it is well worth doing your homework first. We had a Strava route sent to us by a local — and none of the three of us bothered to look closely at it until it was too late.
