What to know
Nairo Quintana’s arrival raised Arkéa-Samsic out of the realm of irrelevance and into the small collection of GC squads. And before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the sport, Quintana showed he was on top form by absolutely dominating the Tour de la Provence in early March. Whether Quintana can build up similar form for July is a story to watch. The team has said Quintana will share leadership duties with French darling Warren Barguil. Our bet is that Quintana has the squad’s sole leadership position by the finish of the first week.
Sorry, Warren, this team is Nairo’s now. We all had a good chuckle when Arkéa-Samsic declared Barguil a co-leader with Quintana for the Tour. Quintana has been a disappointment at the Tour in recent years, and it’s our hope that a change of scenery helps him recapture his top form.
