What to know
CCC Team’s precursor, BMC Racing, often came to the Tour de France with ambitions of the yellow jersey. In 2019 CCC Team was virtually unseen at the Tour, and the squad shrunk into the field with no ambitions of any jersey. The addition of Ilnur Zakarin brings a GC rider capable of winning a stage or finishing inside the top 10. And Greg Van Avermaet’s versatility makes him a threat for stage wins. But CCC Team will again look to animate the race and not necessarily target one specific goal.
Our take
If Zakarin’s GC ambitions take a tumble, look for him to target a stage win in the third week. Van Avermaet’s fast finish could see him take a stage win in the opening uphill finish.
