USA Cycling finalizes 2012 Olympic selection procedures

The governing body had already released selection procedures for men’s and women’s BMX, mountain bike and track events in January. Following Wednesday’s release of the men’s road procedures, all cycling Olympic selection procedures are now finalized. A full summary of all selection requirements is available at USACycling.org.

The men’s road cycling Olympic selection document details prioritized qualification procedures for automatic and discretionary selection.

The men’s road race will take place on July 28, 2012, starting and finishing on the Mall near Buckingham Palace in central London. The 250-kilometer course combines a central London circuit with a long loop into the Surrey Hills, via Putney, Richmond Park and Hampton Court and includes nine circuits of Box Hill. The men’s time trial will cover 44 kilometers on August 1 and will be based on the edge of the capital at Hampton Court.

The 2012 Olympic Games are scheduled for July 27 – August 12 in London.
