Trek Travel, the luxury cycling tour operator, is offering a limited number of entries into the prestigious Etape du Tour cyclosportive, or mass participation bicycle ride, that traces the route of an entire stage of the Tour de France.
This year the event, which expects nearly 9,000 participants, will take place on Sunday, July 6, and will cover Stage 10 of the 2008 Tour de France. It leaves from the town of Pau, climbs the infamous Col du Tourmalet, and finishes on the climb of Hautacam, site of one of Lance Armstrong’s greatest conquests.
Guests will be able to participate in the Etape du Tour during a week-long luxury Trek Travel bicycle tour that also highlights the beauty of coastal Biarritz and the intriguing wine culture of St. Emilion.
“Having participated in the Etape multiple times, I can personally attest to the rewarding and unforgettable experience that riding in this event offers,” said Trek Travel president, Tania Worgull. “With entries often difficult for individuals to obtain, it is a pleasure to provide these to our guests and share the experience.”
As the event’s Major Partner, Trek Bicycles will have a large presence at the expo and will present the new 2009 Madone in a sneak-peak to the international press and Trek Travel’s privileged guests.
“Trek is proud to be a partner of such a remarkable event. It is the queen of cyclosportives. I finished the race in 2007 and plan on a good finish again this year,” commented John Burke, Trek’s president, who will ride in the 2008 Etape alongside Trek Travel guests.
