Stolting Service Group to sponsor former Cult Energy team

Stolting Service Group is the main sponsor for the squad, which will race at the Pro Continental level.

The team formerly known as Cult Energy has found new sponsors for 2016, injecting new life into the squad after its future appeared bleak last month.

German company Stölting Service Group, which provides cleaning, security, and other services, is the lead sponsor of the team. That company has sponsored a different team since 2000, a squad that merged with Cult Energy last year. Cult Energy then pulled its sponsorship, leaving the team hanging in the balance before Stölting Service Group decided to become the name sponsor of the combined squad.

The team will race at the Pro Continental level.

“We are leaving a rough winter period behind us,” team CEO Christian Grosse Kreul said in a press release. “The loss of a main sponsor was a setback for us, but I am really proud of how we have come out of this. We are much stronger and more cohesive, both riders and sponsors, which is great to see. And we have still been able to follow our sporting plan, as a few U23 riders already had a training camp in December and all the riders have been working with the team performance staff to prepare for their 2016 goals.”

The team is currently on the Spanish island of Mallorca, where it will hold a training camp from January 17-30. From there, it will head to the Middle East to race the Tour of Qatar (February 8-12).

On February 25, Stölting Service Group will officially present its 2016 roster in Düsseldorf, Germany — which happens to be the start town for the 2017 Tour de France.

“We are based in the Düsseldorf area, and it is great to show off our team with the increasing interest in cycling in Germany now that the Tour de France is arriving,” Grosse Kreul said.
