Fabio Sacchi ­one of the most appreciated of the Italian team atthe world championships, and Igor Astarloa ­one of the potential winnersof the world cup right up to the last race, will lead the Saeco-LongoniSport team which will end the 2002 season at the Japan Cup race.The team has won 24 races this year and with Sacchi and Astarloa willbe leading directuer sportif Giuseppe Martinelli.
Three young riders will end their first season in the race: DamianoCunego, Leonardo Bertagnolli and Juan Fuentes. After Stefano Zanini and Paolo Fornaciari Alexandre Shefer will alsojoin the Saeco-Longoni sport team for 2003.
Shefer won two races this year ­the Giro di Toscana and the secondstage of the Ruta del Sol in Spain. Born in Alma Ata in Kazakhstan on August21, 1971, Shefer has been a professional since 1993 and raced for the Alessioteam this year.
