Verbrugghe wins Giro prologue
Belgian Rik Verbrugghe of the Lotto-Adecco team continued his spring tear Saturday, winning the 7.6km prologue on the opening day of the Giro d’Italia. Verbrugghe, who also won the Flèche Wallone classic on April 18, beat out Italian Dario Frigo by nine seconds. The 26-year-old averaged more than 58 kph on the flat course.
