Anna van der Breggen, the top-ranked rider in the women’s peloton, will stay with Boels-Dolmans for a further two years.
The Dutch team announced a contract extension for the 2016 Olympic road champion through the 2020 season on Friday.
“Anna is not only a very talented rider, she’s also a true team player and a great asset to the team as a person,” said Boels-Dolmans manager Danny Stam via a team press release. “When you have to possibility to re-sign the strongest rider in the peloton, you shouldn’t think twice.”
Van der Breggen initially made the jump to Boels for the 2017 season after spending three years with Rabo-Liv. The 28-year-old Dutchwoman has been the most decorated rider in women’s cycling over the last few years, with her Olympic gold, a sweep of the 2017 Ardennes races, Giro Rosa titles in 2015 and 2017, and a Tour of Flanders win this season among her many impressive results.
“I’m happy to have re-signed with Boels-Dolmans,” Van der Breggen said. “The team, its staff and dedicated sponsors are a tremendous support in letting us achieve the absolute maximum result. I feel at home with Boels-Dolmans and cannot wait to pursue further success with this team in the years to come.”
