USA Cycling contacted Shawn Milne Thursday afternoon to inform him that he will be declared the 2007 U.S. professional criterium champion, following the disqualification of Kirk O’Bee’s result at that race, a USA Cycling representative has told VeloNews.

“Shawn Milne has officially been named professional criterium national champion for 2007,” said Micah Rice, USA Cycling’s managing director of national events.

“We called Shawn today to congratulate him on his national title and we also put a stars-and-stripes jersey in the mail,” Rice said.

While Milne will not be allowed to race in the jersey, he can wear red, white, and blue piping on the collar and cuffs of his jersey going forward.

O’Bee’s disqualification moves Alex Candelario up tot he silver medal position and Tony Cruz into the bronze medal.
