Team Type 1 signs Bodrogi and Callegarin for the 2011 season

The U.S. squad steps up for 2011 with some new hires and more to come.

Laszlo Bodrogi, ten-time Hungarian national time trial champion and silver medalist at the world championship in 2007, has signed with Team Type 1 for the 2011 season. He will join Italian Daniele Callegarin, another new sign for the team, which plans to step up to Pro Continental status for 2011.

Bodrogi comes to Team Type 1 from Team Katusha. He is a 12-year veteran of the professional peloton and has won stages at Paris-Nice (2002 prologue), Three Days of De Panne (2004 stage 3b) and the Tour of Denmark (2002 stage 4b).

“Bodrogi brings great world-class time trial experience to Team Type 1 and his presence is a remarkable addition to the squad,” said Team Type 1 director Vassili Davidenko.

Callegarin is a five-year veteran of the professional peloton and winner of the GP Industria 1.1 race in Italy

“Callegarin is really a terrific all-round rider, with a lot of deep talent. He can climb well and is just a really strong, complete rider,” said Davidenko.

Other Team Type 1 signees for next season include Swiss time trial champion Rubens Bertogliati, Russian climber Alexander Efimkin, Slovene Jure Kocjan and Italian riders Alessandro Bazzana and Andrea Grendene. The team plans to race a full schedule of European events in 2011.

More signees are in the works for Team Type 1. They expect more announcements is the next few days as the season draws to an end.
