Tanner Putt repeats as U23 national road champion

Putt out-kicked Keegan Swirbul and T.J. Eisenhart to win second title

Bissell Development Cycling’s Tanner Putt won his second U23 national championship title in the road race, July 3 in Madison, Wis.

The 22-year-old Utah resident waited out an early-race breakaway to win. Three riders — Daniel Eaton (Canyon Bicycles-Shimano), Geoffrey Curran (Bissell Development Cycling), and Justin Oien (California Giant Cycling) — gained as much as five minutes on the field before being reeled back by the field with 3km remaining in the 140km race. Putt then out-kicked Keegan Swirbul (Carbondale, Colo./Bissell Development Cycling) and T.J. Eisenhart (Lehi, Utah/BMC Development Team) on the final climb to win his second title.

Putt has honed his form this season in the Amgen Tour of California, USA Cycling’s professional road national championships, and the U23 edition of Paris-Roubaix.
