A spectator caused a massive crash in Sunday’s first stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake when he ran into the middle of the road as sprint trains were gearing up for the final kick to the line.
The incident occurred inside the final three kilometers of the 113km stage that started and finished in the city of Xining.

The spectator collided with a rider near the front of the peloton, bringing down dozens of others in a massive pileup.
Nathan Elliott (Kenyan Riders Downunder) noted via Twitter that the spectator was arrested following the crash.

Miguel Ángel Rubiano (China Continental Team of Gansu Bank) ultimately took the stage victory ahead of Daniele Colli (Nippo – Vini Fantini) and Remco te Brake (Parkhotel – Valkenburg).
