Sky unveils updated kit design for 2016

The squad will again be outfitted by British clothing maker Rapha, a relationship that will end after next season.

Team Sky unveiled its 2016 kit late Thursday, which sports an updated design from its previous looks.

The new jersey features two stripes across the chest — one a shade of blue and one white. The same blue appears on the jersey’s left sleeve, and it’s a slightly different shade than has been featured on previous Sky kits. A blue stripe runs down the back of the jersey.

Two of the team’s sponsors, Pinarello bikes and 21st Century Fox, have their logos placed on the front of the jersey as well.

British clothing maker Rapha worked with the team to create the new kits, which are made of “cutting-edge fabrics,” according to a Sky press release.

“The feedback we get from the riders, especially our new signings who have already tried it, is that it’s the best performing kit in the peloton,” Sky coach and performance manager Rod Ellingworth said. “They all say how smart they feel in it too. Working closely with Rapha ensures that we have the best fitting, fastest, and comfortable racewear out there.”

It was announced last month that Rapha and Sky will part ways after the 2016 season.
