Roman Kreuziger jetting to Liège-Bastogne-Liège to ride in support of Alexandre Vinokourov
HUY, Belgium (VN) – Alexander Vinokourov will have a full arsenal at his disposal in his bid for a third Liège-Bastogne-Liège title Sunday. Roman Kreuziger will join his Astana teammates Saturday evening in Liège after the Giro del Trentino wraps up earlier in the day in Italy.

HUY, Belgium (VN) – Alexander Vinokourov will have a full arsenal at his disposal in his bid for a third Liège-Bastogne-Liège title Sunday. Roman Kreuziger will join his Astana teammates Saturday evening in Liège after the Giro del Trentino wraps up earlier in the day in Italy.
In a release, the team said that, “co-leader Roman Kreuziger will join the team to support Alexandre Vinokourov.”
Then riding for Liquigas, Kreuziger finished 51st in last year’s edition of La Doyenne, 6:08 behind Vinokourov.
The win was Vinokourov’s second, and victory this year would bring him on par with three-time winners Léon Houa (1892, 93, 94), Alfons Schepers (1929, 31, 35) and Fred de Buyne (1956, 58, 59). Only Eddy Merckx with five (1969, 71, 72, 73, 75) and Moreno Argentin with four (1985, 86, 87, 91) have more victories at the oldest classic of them all.
