BOULOGNE-SER-MER (AFP) — Vincenzo Nibali, one of the top contenders for the Tour de France, will lead the Italian National Team at the Olympics later this summer.

Italian boss Paolo Bettini selected Nibali to compete at the London Games alongside Luca Paolini, Sacha Modolo, Marco Pinotti and Matteo Trentin. The men’s road race is July 28.

Filippo Pozzato did not make the selection. The classics man is under fire for allegedly working with banned doping doctor Michele Ferrari. Pozzato faces a one-year sanction not for doping, but for making contact with Ferrari, which the Italian federation has forbidden for current athletes.
