Next year’s CCC Team, the evolution of the squad known as BMC Racing for the last several seasons, will race on Giant bikes in 2019.
The Taiwan-based Giant Bicycles was for years the bike partner of Team Sunweb, but the Dutch squad is switching to Cervélo bikes in 2019. CCC will take up the mantle of racing Giant’s bikes on the WorldTour, according to announcement from the team. On the women’s side, Giant’s sister brand Liv will partner with the organization via the CCC-Liv team, an evolution of the Waowdeals squad headlined by Marianne Vos.
A new under-23 Continental team under the CCC umbrella will also race on Giant bikes.
“We are delighted to welcome Giant as the bike and primary technical partner of CCC Team,” said general manager Jim Ochowicz.
“In 2019, we will start a new chapter as a team and the partnership with Giant will see our riders race on some of the best bikes in the world. The biggest WorldTour races, including time trials, one-day classics, and grand tours, have been won on Giant bikes over the years which is a testament to their expertise and groundbreaking technology and design.”
An official bike sponsor was one of a few items remaining on the docket for the new CCC organization to iron out before the start of the 2019 season. While the team has announced that Greg Van Avermaet will headline the men’s squad with Vos leading the way for the women, full rosters for either outfit have yet to be unveiled.
According to the team’s press release, those lineups will be announced “later this year.”
