Flanders Classics announces the 26 teams to take part in the 97th edition of De Ronde

Flanders Classics, organizer of the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders), on Tuesday announced the 26 teams to take part in the season’s second monument. Belgian squads Accent.Jobs-Wanty, Crelan-Euphony, and Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise are among the seven wildcards to take part in the 97th edition of the race on March 31.

First-year Swiss team IAM Cycling has received a number of top invites in its rookie season, including Milano-Sanremo, Paris-Roubaix, Flèche Wallonne, and Liège–Bastogne–Liège.

“Honestly, I never imagined that we’d receive all these invitations in our first year. I am doubly honored when we see that we are the only Pro Continental team that has been given the green light to race all of these events this year,” said team manager Michel Thétaz. “This sort of schedule proves the quality of work that the riders as well as management have plowed into this team since the beginning of this adventure at the end of last year.”

The wildcard teams will join the 19 ProTeams holding automatic invites to the WorldTour event.
