Neben leads U.S. women in New Zealand

Former world champion Amber Neben will lead the USA Cycling Women's National Team at the NZCT Women's Tour of New Zealand, which starts Wednesday.

Former world champion Amber Neben will lead the USA Cycling Women’s National Team at the NZCT Women’s Tour of New Zealand, which starts Wednesday.

Besides Neben, the team includes Janel Holcomb, Shelley Evans, Andrea Dvorrak, Jessica Phillips and Alison Starnes. When they are not on the national team, Evans races for the new Peanut Butter & Co. Twenty12 team, Phillips races for Colavita-Baca, and Starnes races for TIBCO.

The Women’s Tour of New Zealand has been held for seven years. It includes six stages over five days:

Wednesday, stage 1: 95km Martinborough to Masterton

Thursday, stage 2: 114km to Palmerston North.

Friday, stage 3: 125km circuit race in Palmerston North

Friday, stage 4: 11km individual time trial in Palmerston North.

Saturday, stage 5: 112km Palmerston North to Masterton.

Sunday, stage 6: City of Wellington criterium.
