Niki Terpstra provided Omega Pharma-QuickStep with its 20th win of the season at Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday, and manager Patrick Lefevre is confident that that victory will not stand alone this spring.

“[The win] is proof that the team is very deep,” Lefevre said to Het Nieuwsblad. “This is also necessary to tame Cancellara.”

“I hope this victory is just the start, that this is not my maximum,” said Terpstra following his victory. “I know I’m not Fabian Cancellara, but as a team we are ten times stronger than RadioShack-Nissan. Plus we have Tom Boonen. We have many deep assets to make the Swiss’ life miserable.”

Jeannie Longo makes French Olympic long team — L’Équipe

French cyclist Jeannie Longo has been added to the French Olympic long team at 53 years old, despite her recent spats with anti-doping authorities.

The Frenchwoman, a 13-time world champion and 1996 Olympic gold medalist, ran into trouble for not informing testing agencies of her whereabouts last year, and into further difficulty after her husband and coach Patrice Cipelli was indicted for the purchase of EPO this winter. She missed the world championships last fall as a result.

“She provided all the papers that we demanded to be part of the wider pre-selection,” explained Isabelle Gautheron to L’Équipe on Tuesday. “I have nothing further, but it does not change the previous years. Jeannie is aware, she knows what it takes to perform.”

Team Great Britain London kit unveiled — CyclingWeekly

Great Britain’s London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games official kit was unveiled by designer Stella McCartney on Thursday morning at the Tower of London.

The kit was designed by McCartney and manufactured by Adidas.

The cycling version of the clothing features largely dark panels in stark contrast to the white and light blue kit of the 2008 Games. A blue Union Flag motif on the chest, a full color Union Flag on the shoulder and red neck design add a splash of color.

Pozzato: ‘I am strong’ — Het Nieuwsblad

After finishing sixth in Milan-San Remo, Pippo Pozzato (Farnsese Vini-Selle Italia) is looking forward to the challenge presented by the Flemish spring.

“Although I was not completely satisfied with the outcome,” he said, “I felt very strong in the race: the sixth is a confirmation of my good feeling in Milan-San Remo. With this condition, I have an eye on the the E3 Harelbeke and will play a role in the rest of the spring classics.”
