Sir Bradley Wiggins revealed that he was so devastated at being denied the chance to defend his Tour de France title that he refused to watch any of this year’s race, which was won by his Sky colleague Chris Froome, reported the Telegraph.

Speaking to the media at the Tour of Poland, Wiggins admitted over the weekend he would have become “depressed” had he watched his teammate’s successes.

“I didn’t watch it — I couldn’t watch it,” the 33-year-old said during the Tour of Poland, the first time he had raced competitively since the Giro.

“I would have loved to have been there and would have found it very difficult to watch. I’ve just been trying to focus on positives, really, rather than sitting depressed in front of the TV. I only watched the first stage, as I heard the bus had knocked the finish line down. I followed it from afar but it was too painful to watch.”
