PARIS (AFP) — Swedish rider Gustav Larsson has broken several vertebrae in a fall before the Swedish national time trial championships, his IAM Cycling team confirmed on Friday.

Larsson, 33, who won an Olympic silver medal in the time trial at the 2008 Beijing Games, is expected to be out of action for at least three months.

The Swede was not among IAM’s the nine-rider team for the Tour de France, which starts July 5.
