Kelly Benefit Strategies Pro Cycling is expanding it international racing calendar, the team announced Wednesday.
The team is returning to the Tour De Langkawi, March 1-7 in Malaysia. Later in the season the team will head to the the Tour of Luzon in the Philippines, the OCBC Cycle Singapore, the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay, the Tour of Thailand and the Tour de Korea.
“Le Tour de Langkawi is a very prestigious race and this is a big step toward our long term goal of competing in the world’s biggest races,” said Jonas Carney, the team’s performance manager.
The team’s Langkawi roster will include Andrew Bajadali, Zach Bell, Dan Bowman, Alex Candelario, Neil Shirley and Scott Zwizanski.
“Our team has ambitious goals for 2010,” Carney said. “We want to perform at the biggest races in North America including the Amgen Tour of California, the Philadelphia International Championship, and the USPRO Championships. In order to do this, it is necessary to race internationally as the U.S. calendar does not provide adequate preparation. Increasing our international schedule is also critical to our long term goals of upgrading to Pro Continental status and racing some of the bigger events in Europe.”
