Project 1t4i and Team Europcar, which originally had applied for ProTeam status, were added to the list of 15 Continental Pro squads registered on November 2.
Five more teams were registered following meetings of the UCI License Commission in late November: Andalucia, Champion System, Farnese Vini, Rusvelo and Utensilnord.
Geox-TMC manager Mauro Gianetti and sport director Joxean Fernández Matxín had hoped to pull together a last-ditch deal to keep the team alive in early December, but knew the clock was ticking.
“We are still working and looking at other options, but time is working against us,” Matxín told VeloNews in late November. “We know the deadline is looming to be Pro Continental. It has to happen fast if it’s going to happen.”
Meanwhile, three North American teams made the list: UnitedHealthcare and Team Type 1-Sanofi of the United States, and SpiderTech-C10 of Canada.
