Returning to a formal evening presentation format it has used in years past, the Garmin-Cervélo WorldTour team will unveil its 2012 squad next month in Boulder, Colorado, the city where the team started in 2003.

The team, managed by Slipstream Sports, will be presented November 17 at the historic Boulder Theater. The event will include the official presentation of the 2012 team, an auction, an open forum Q&A with riders, and a new film about the team, “The Journey to a Dream,” by esteemed British filmmaker, Nigel Dick.

Auction items include a signed jersey and a team car ride for a stage of the 2012 USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Proceeds from the auction will go to the team’s under-23 development programs.

A limited number of VIP tickets, which include a private cocktail hour with the team, special VIP seating and an exclusive gift bag, are available for $250 at www.slipstreamsports.com/gala. General admission tickets are available for $25 at www.bouldertheater.com. Each ticket comes with a raffle ticket for an exclusive team item to be named later.

Slipstream Sports also used the Boulder Theater to present its squads in 2008 and 2009.

Team manger Jonathan Vaughters began Slipstream Sports in Boulder in 2003. The team was sponsored by TIAA-CREF from 2004 through 2007 before jumping into the sport’s top tier in 2008 with a team time trial win at the Giro d’Italia; Garmin has been the team’s title sponsor since June 2008. While also based in Girona, Spain, Slipstream still maintains an office in Boulder, and several of the team’s riders, including Tom Danielson and Peter Stetina, call Boulder home.

Riders returning as part of the team’s 2012 roster include Danielson, Tyler Farrar, Heinrich Haussler, Ryder Hesjedal, Dan Martin, David Millar, Christian Vande Velde, Johan Vansummeren and Dave Zabriskie. New signings include Alex Howes, Robbie Hunter and Jakob Rathe.
