Gaimon, Guarnier lead season’s first NRC rankings

Bissell, Tibco on top of team standings

With their overall wins at the Redlands Bicycle Classic on Sunday, Phil Gaimon (Kenda-5-hour Energy) and Megan Guarnier (Tibco-To the Top) led the year’s first National Racing Calendar standings, released Monday.

With 217 points, Gaimon holds a 22-point lead over Redlands triple-stage-winner Patrick Bevin (Bissell). Alex Candelario (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies) sits third, with 108 points.

In the women’s standings, Guarnier leads Optum’s Joelle Noumainville by 76 points, 237-161. Sunset Loop stage winner Alison Powers (NOW-Novartis) sits third, with 155 points.

The next stop on the NRC for men is the Tour of the Battenkill on April 15. The women’s series continues April 26-29 at the Joe Martin Stage Race.
