Two fund-raisers have been announced to help support the family of a fallen California bike racer.
Christopher “Cono” Contreras died following a crash in the pro/category 1-3 race at the Public Safety Criterium on Memorial Day in Dominguez Hills. He was 48.
Contreras was a member of Gruppo Velo, the organizer of the Fortune 700 race series and a longtime employee of Velo Pasadena. He is survived by his wife, Akiyo, and two sons.
According to SoCalCycling.com, the Kool ‘n Fit Criterium on June 9 in Costa Mesa will donate its proceeds to the Contreras family. In addition, donations are being accepted online at gofundme.com and at the following locations:
