Crowell jumps late to Tulsa womens win

Jacquelyn Crowell made it two-for-two for the attackers at the Tulsa Tough when she rode a late surge to a solo win in the Brady Village Criterium. Crowell (Team Type 1) attacked the field on the penultimate lap and clung to a narrow advantage at the finish with Laura Van Gilder (Mellow Mushroom) and day-one winner Jennifer Pezzulo (Primal-Mapmyride) coming through second and third, respectively.

Much like Friday night’s kickoff of the three-day omnium in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the women’s race was aggressive throughout. NOW and Novarta MS and Primal put riders on the front of the race all night. Robin Farina (NOW) and Emily Kachorek (Primal) went on the attack multiple times, but Anne Samplonius (Rouse Bicycles) and the ladies of Vanderkitten glued the bunch together time after time.

Carrie Cash-Wooten went on the attack with three laps to go and when Samplonius pulled her in, Crowell countered. Behind her, the Vanderkitten train gave chase, but the Team Type 1 rider was strong enough to hold them off for the solo win, her first NRC victory of the year.
