Veteran Sky rider Lars Petter Nordhaug and many-time Irish national champion Matthew Brammeier (currently with Dimension Data) will ride for the new Aqua Blue Sport in 2017, the team announced in a press release Monday. The squad will debut next season as Ireland’s first-ever Pro Continental team.

Rick Delaney, the Irish businessman behind the project, says the team has financial backing lined up for four years. According to the release, Aqua Blue is targeting a WorldTour promotion by year four and participation in the Tour de France.

Nicki Sorensen, a former pro who has since worked with Tinkoff and the Continental-level Cycling Academy team has signed on as a sports director. 24-year-old Connor Dunne (currently with JLT – Condor) and former track world champion Martyn Irvine will join Nordhaug and Brammeier on the road, with other signings yet to be announced.
