Triple Tour de France champion Alberto Contador married fiancée Macarena Pescador Saturday in his home town of Pinto, the cyclist’s agent announced.

The 28-year-old Spaniard ended his season in August following a disappointing campaign in the Tour de France, which he finished in fifth place behind champion Cadel Evans.

Contador aims to return to the race next year, but must first await a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding his positive test for the banned substance clenbuterol at the 2010 Tour de France, which he won.

Contador blamed the positive on what he said was a contaminated steak eaten on the race’s second rest day.

Cleared by the Spanish cycling federation (RFEC), he is now waiting for CAS to deliberate after the UCI and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) contested the RFEC decision.

CAS is set to take up Contador’s case November 21-24.

Earlier this year Contador dominated his rivals at the Giro d’Italia to claim his second career victory in what proved to be a very difficult grand tour. Considered the best stage racer of his generation, he has won six grand tours, three in France, two in Italy and one Vuelta a España.
