Alberto Contador ends his 2010 season — and his Astana career — with a criterium win in France

Alberto Contador closed out his 2010 season — and his career with Astana — with a win at a post-Tour criterium in France on Tuesday.

Tour de France winner Alberto Contador ended his 2010 season with victory in the Castillon-la-Bataille criterium on Tuesday.

Contador’s season

February: Volta ao Algarve, 1st overall
March: Paris-Nice, 1st overall
April: Castilla y Leon, 1st overall
April: Fléche Wallonne, 3rd
June: Criterium du Dauphiné Libéré, 2nd overall, 2 stage wins and points jersey
July: Tour de France, 1st overall

Contador finished ahead of Quick Step’s Sylvain Chavanel and BBox’s Pierrick Fedrigo. Both French riders won stages on the July 3-25 race.

Contador was racing for the final time for Astana. The  27-year-old Spaniard has signed a two-year deal with Saxo Bank-Sungard.

“Now all I want to do is relax, while keeping up my form,” said Contador.
