Mara Abbott (UnitedHealthcare) won the overall crown at the Vuelta a El Salvador on Sunday, a day after her impressive attack in stage 4.

Abbot, whose late surge up the San Salvador Volcano earned her the stage 4 win, stayed with her teammates during Sunday’s final stage to clinch the victory. Her teammate Hannah Barnes sprinted to a third-place result on the day.

“We knew we had a chance of winning this race with Mara’s great form and the well-balanced roster we’ve assembled,” sport director Rachel Heal said in a team release. “The team rode strong and smart all week, keeping the climbers within striking distance of the yellow jersey.

“Mara worked her magic with that fantastic solo attack yesterday and the team was able to defend today, with Hannah even earning a podium result in the final sprint!”
