2015 Velo Awards: Peraud rides out of his skin

Jean-Christophe Péraud suffered a terrible crash in the Tour de France, but he persevered to finish the race, showing his true grit.

Don't miss a moment from Paris-Roubaix and Unbound Gravel, to the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta a España, and everything in between when you join Outside+.

It would have been asking too much for 38-year-old Jean-Christophe Péraud (Ag2r La Mondiale) to top his 2014 Tour, when he finished second overall. But somehow his 2015 performance seems more memorable.

When the Frenchman skidded across the road in a solo crash on stage 13, what little was left of his kit revealed such massive wounds, everyone assumed his Tour was over. But Péraud not only remounted, he ferried water bottles to his teammates. It took 45 minutes to bandage him for the next stage, but he continued racing — all the way to Paris.
