Treviso, Italy (18 March, 2004) – On the eve of Milano-San Remo, Cicli Pinarello Spa has created some special new bicycles for their top teams, Fassa Bortolo and Illes Balears-Banesto to have the best possible material to use in the “la Classicissima di Primavera” this coming Saturday, March 20th. New Pinarello Dogma bicycles in magnesium for super sprinter Alessando Petacchi and his leadout train, who’ve just returned from Tirreno-Adriatico with three stage wins, and for Filippo Pozzato, recent protagonist in the Giro di Liguria and Trofeo Laigueglia. Both Petacchi and Pozzato will be team captains of the powerful Fassa Bortolo squad in Milano-San Remo. The new Pinarello Dogma bicycles that Alessando Petacchi and his leadout train and Filippo Pozzato will use Saturday are special models that have more rigid frames than the previous models. Pinarello’s Dogma, the top model of Pinarello’s range is built in AK 61magnesium alloy from Dedacciai, which offers a unique combination of lightness, ridigity, comfort and a special design esthetic. Fassa Bortolo’s Pinarello team bikes are equipped with Pinarello’s “Onda” carbon fibre fork with a one of a kind reversed double “S” shape, Campagnolo Record gruppo, Look pedals, Deda Elementi handlebar & stem, Mavic Cosmic Carbon wheels, Vittoria tubular tyres, Selle Italia saddles & Elite bottle cages. Illes Balears-Banesto will also have new OPERA bicycles, created by Cicli Pinarello, for Saturday’s Milano-San Remo. Illes Balears-Banesto squad will race on Opera’s Leonardo and will have three key riders for Saturday: Josè Ivan Gutierrez, who recently bested Lance Armstrong by 19” in the individual time trial in the Vuelta a Murcia, along with Pablo Lastras and Cente Garcia, former Tour de France stage winners. Illes Balears-Banesto will race on Opera Giorgione carbon fibre bicycles, with recently modfied tubing shape and design and equipped with Campagnolo gruppo & race wheels, Vittoria tubular tyres, Look pedals, Deda Elementi handlebar & stem, Selle Italia saddles & Elite bottle cages.
