Cicli Pinarello Equips World Champion Susanne Lungskog’s SATS team

Treviso, Italy (18 March, 2004) – Opera Bicycles, created by Cicli Pinarello will be the racing partner in 2004 with Team Manager Maurizio Fabretto’s new squad SAFI-PASTA ZARA-MANHATTAN The new squad will consist of 14 riders, led by two of the top names in womens cycling, Nicole Cooke (UK), winner of the 2003 Womens World Cup, and the Lithuanian athlete Diana Ziliute, bronze medalist in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Other riders include Italians Giorgia Bronzini, track specialist with the Italian National Team and Anna Zugno, Jr. World TT champion in 2002 at Zolder, German rider Regina Schleicher, who was 2nd last year at Sanremo WomansPrimavera Rosa and the Norwegian rider Gunn-Rita Dahle, one of the top womens mountain bike riders. Six SAFI-PASTA ZARA-MANHATTAN riders will take the start of the 5th Primavera Rosa from Varazze to San Remo next Saturday: three Italians, Noemi Cantele, Giorgia Bronzini e Anna Zugno; German rider Regina Schleicher, who was 2nd last year at Sanremo Womans Primavera Rosa, Lithuanian rider Modesta Vzezniauskaite and the Norwegian rider Gunn-Rita Dahle. Nicole Cooke, will not participate in the Primavera Rosa, Spagna, but will race on 28 March in the third Womens World Cup race, Gran Premio Castilla y Leon. SAFI-PASTA ZARA-MANHATTAN riders are equipped with OPERA LEONARDO carbon fibre bicycles, with Campagnolo components (gruppo Super Record & Eurus wheels), Selle Italia saddles and Elite bottle cages. Primavera Rosa will also feature Cicli Pinarello’s new sponsorship of the Danish Womens team SATS, with two-time World Champion Susanne Lungskog, who will race in 2004 on Pinarello bicycles. Lungskog, Norwegian Anita Valen and Australian Rochelle Gilmore, third last year at Classicissima Rosa will be key riders for Team SATS. American team director Chris MacDonald will guide his athletes, equipped with Pinarello Prince SL bicycles with Pinarello’s unique carbon fibre Onda fork. World Champion Lungskog had hoped to debut her new custom made Pinarello Dogma bicycle in ultralight magnesium at la Primavera Rosa, but her bike was stolen recently from Pinarello’s works in Treviso, Italy.
