Saxo Bank-Sungard: Q&A with Nick Nuyens

Nick Nuyens has been the center of attention following his breakthrough victory at Tour of Flanders earlier this month. The Belgian classics specialist skipped Paris-Roubaix and will line up Sunday for Amstel Gold Race as one of the favorites for victory. In an interview posted on the team’s web page, Nuyens talks Flanders, Riis and what he expects on Sunday: “(I knew I could win Flanders) at Bosberg – on the last climb. I knew it was possible to take the win as the race was neutralized. On the final three kilometers, I was pretty sure my chances were good. I had to close the gap to Cancellara and Chavanel and I had to fight inch by inch as they were moving incredibly fast but I kept screaming to myself: “I must and I will!” I like the game first and foremost – I’m a tactical rider.”

Philippine Information Agency: Le Tour de Filipinas hits road on April 16

THE 2011 Le Tour de Filipinas hits the road for four days from Roxas Boulevard in Manila to Baguio City from April 16 to 19 with the cream of the crop of Asian cycling competing.

Twenty-two teams from Asia, Europe, and the Americas have applied for participation in the Union Cycliste Internationale-sanctioned race on the Asia Tour calendar organized by Dynamics Outsource Solutions (DOS-1), Inc. but only 11 of the foreign teams will be on the roster.
