Believe it or not, but snowfall has forced the cancellation of a bicycle race in California during May.
Kenda Cup 5 in Big Bear, California, which was scheduled for the weekend of May 15-16, has been cancelled due to excessive amounts of snow, trail damage and closures, according to race organizers.
Organizers attempted to clear snow and work with the U.S. Forest Service to re-issue the race permit for another date, however they were forced to cancel the round all together.
The next Kenda Cup West Series event will now be at Ellings Park in Santa Barbara, California on June 6, now round number 5 of the series. The final for the Kenda Cup West Series, Round 6, will now be at Big Bear Shootout 2, scheduled on June 19-20. The Kenda Cup West series is still best five of six events towards series title.
For the California State Series, the Ellings Park race June 6 will now be the next round. It means the California State series will now be a seven-race series, with the final still set for the Big Bear Shootout #3 on July 18. Best five-of-seven rounds in the California State Series will count towards series title.
