The Winter Park Mountain Bike Series mountain-top circuit course threw plenty of challenges at the racers on Aug. 15.
The altitude, 10,700 feet at the start, made the climbing difficult, but the technical descents were what made the race exciting.

Michael Mathers (Rocky Mountain Racing) finished in the second position at 1:32:56 and Velo News racer Matt Pacocha took third in 1:33:10.
In the women’s race, Eszter Horanyi (Waltworks/Fuentes Design) took the win in 1:49:30 over racers Sharon McDowell Larsen (Procycling) who finished at 1:51:58 and Erin Huck (Tokyo Joes) 1:53:38.
The Winter Park series concludes on Aug. 29, with the King of the Rockies Finale over the classic 26-mile Tipperary Creek point-to-point course. For more information and full race results go to www.epicsingletrack.com.
