The organizers of one of the toughtest mountain bike races around are adding another event to their roster — the 12/24 Hours of Leadville Mountain Bike Race.
While details are still to come, the event is set for Sept. 4-5, 2010, in Leadville, Colorado — elevation 10,152. Registration for all categories will open in early 2010, according to organizers. Riders interested in the race should go to the LT100 web site and join an email list to receive more registration information.
The categories for the 12- and 24-hour races include:
• Solo – Male & Female
• Solo Single-Speed – Male & Female
• Duo – Male, Female, Coed
• Four-Person – Male, Female, Coed
• Corporate – Up to 10 racers
Meanwhile, for people looking to buy a DVD of the “Race Across the Sky” film that documents the 2009 LT100 that featured Lance Armstrong and Dave Wiens, it should be out sometime in spring 2010.
The “Race Across The Sky” Documentary premiered in 700 theaters across the country on Oct. 22 2009, followed by an encore Presentation on Nov. 12.
“It’s currently being shown in 200 theaters in Canada and 300 in Australia,” said Kathy Bedell, the LT100 media rep. “From there the film may be shown on TV and then eventually make it to DVD. The Leadville Trail 100 anticipates having the DVD available for sale in its online store sometime in spring 2010.”
