The organizing committee of the 2012 Olympic Games announced dates and ticket prices for cycling events at the London Games on Tuesday.
Cross-country mountain bike events will take place at Hadleigh Farm, in Essex — a two-hour drive from London. The women’s XC race will be held August 11, with men’s events held the following day. Tickets will run £45 and £20.
One day after the July 27 opening ceremonies, the men’s road race will be held on Saturday, July 28 — the first full day of competition. The women’s road race will be held on July 29. Both races will use London’s Historic Mall; subway stations indicated for viewing road race events include Victoria, St. James’s Park, Charing Cross, Piccadilly Circus and Green Park. Road racing events are free events, however certain viewing areas will be designated as ticketed; tickets will cost £60, £40 and £20 (Pounds Sterling).
Both the men’s and women’s individual time trial events will be held on The Mall on August 1; the time trials will be free events, and no viewing areas will be designated as ticketed.
Track events will run August 2 through 7 at the Olympic Park Velodrome. Tickets range from £325 to £20, depending on seating arrangements and whether medals are awarded.
Men’s and women’s BMX events will be held at Olympic Park from August 8-10, with medals awarded August 10. Tickets range from £125 to £20.
Tickets for all Olympic events go on sale March 15. The most expensive tickets are for the Opening ceremony — £2O12 is the highest price, although organizers say 90 percent of all tickets for the Games come in at under £100. There are also special prices available for young people and seniors across all Olympic sports. Young people aged 16 or younger (on July 27, 2012) will “pay their age” for a ticket. Seniors aged 60 and over on July 27, 2012, will pay £16.
