Pending final UCI approval at the end of January, the Carmichael Training Systems International Classic set for July 9 through 11 in Colorado Springs will be a UCI C2 stage race.

Race promoter Andy Bohlman said more information on the stage race will be announced upon UCI approval, which is expected to happen at the Cyclocross World Championships in Tabor, Czech Republic on Jan. 30-31.

The UCI sanctioning translates into a $10,000 cash purse with 655 UCI points each for pro men and pro women, 47 percent of all U.S. UCI points available for 2010.

The Carmichael Training Systems International Classic race will be the final USA Cycling Pro XCT race, a 2012 Olympic Selection race and the final 2010 National Championship cross-country qualification race.

The weekend following the CTS Classic is the Cross-Country Mountain Bike National Championships July 15 through 18 in Granby, Colorado.

Meanwhile, the Pro XCT series men and women overall winners get an automatic 2010 World Championship spot, which will be announced at the CTS Classic.

The race venue is Cheyenne Mountain State Park just south of Colorado Springs. For more information go to www.sandcreeksports.com.
