Mara Abbott: “The goal isn’t to just show up at the Olympics. I want to perform.”

Mara Abbott is one of four American women headed to the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. How does she see the race going down?

Don't miss a moment from Paris-Roubaix and Unbound Gravel, to the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta a España, and everything in between when you join Outside+.

Mara Abbott has been one of the strongest U.S. female cyclists for the last decade. Before this year, however, she was never part of an Olympic team. Now, she’s one of four riders headed to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic road race. The climb-heavy course suits Abbott, who is perhaps the world’s best rider on the uphills.

We recently sat down with Abbott to talk about Rio.
