LOOK announces Ergo 3 seatpost recall

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC),the U.S. distributor of LOOK cycling products, Veltec Sports, Inc. of SandCity, California, is voluntarily recalling LOOK Ergopost 3 bicycle seatposts.  One Hundred Twenty Four (124) of these products were soldin the United States.  No injuries have been reported, but Veltechas received reports that the aluminum crown of the seatpost can fail asa result of metal fatigue, which may cause the bicycle seat to dislodgeand result in a rider losing control or falling.  This recall is beingconducted to prevent the possibility of

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC),the U.S. distributor of LOOK cycling products, Veltec Sports, Inc. of SandCity, California, is voluntarily recalling LOOK Ergopost 3 bicycle seatposts.  One Hundred Twenty Four (124) of these products were soldin the United States.  No injuries have been reported, but Veltechas received reports that the aluminum crown of the seatpost can fail asa result of metal fatigue, which may cause the bicycle seat to dislodgeand result in a rider losing control or falling.  This recall is beingconducted to prevent the possibility of injuries from this mechanism.LOOK Ergopost 3 bicycle seat posts were manufactured by Look Cycle Internationalof Nevers, France, for adult road racing bicycles.  They feature acomposite carbon fiber post, an aluminum crown and seat bracket, and titaniumfasteners.  The aluminum crown may be either silver or black. All sizes of the LOOK Ergopost 3 seat posts are covered by this recall,but no other LOOK seat posts or other products are involved.LOOK Ergopost 3 bicycle seat posts were sold nationwide by specialtybicycle retailers between September 2000 and February 2002.  The suggestedretail price is $210.Consumers should stop using LOOK Ergopost 3 bicycle seat posts immediatelyand make arrangements to return them for a purchase price refund. Products may be returned to the authorized LOOK Cycle retailer from whomthey were purchased, or, if this is not convenient, call Veltec Sportsat (800) 991-0070 for information on how to return the seat posts directlyto Veltec Sports.  Retailers can direct their inquiries to VeltecSports at 800-578-5790.
