In the News: Nys to manage Telenet team

Sven Nys will stay involved in cyclocross after retirement as team manager for the Telenet-Fidea team.

Sporza reports that Sven Nys, arguably the greatest cyclocross racer of all time, has announced plans to manage the Telenet-Fidea team after he retires this winter.

“I’ve always said that after my career I wanted to train and guide young riders,” Nys said. “That’s one of the pillars of Sven Nys Cycling Centre and Telenet-Fidea.” The Telenet-Fidea team is home to Tom Meeusen, 27, a silver medalist at 2010 world cyclocross championships in the under-23 category.

The 2015-2016 cyclocross season will be Nys’s final round as a racer, closing out a 17-year career that includes six World Cup series wins, 11 Superprestige series titles, and two cyclocross world champion’s jerseys.
