American cyclocross racer Elle Anderson is back to racing full-time in Europe after staggering through a miserable season two years ago that was fraught with psychological trauma, personal struggle, and illness. Anderson’s challenges with the sport — which stemmed from her working relationship with Belgian ‘cross host Victor Bruyndonx — were the subject of a recent VeloNews magazine story by managing editor Chris Case.

Anderson has already turned heads in her return, finishing third at Thursday’s muddy UCI Kermiscross event in the town of Ardooie in western Flanders. She will line up for Sunday’s Cauberg Cross World Cup in Valkenburg, the Netherlands.

Anderson recently sat down with Case to talk about her return to Europe.
