Ben Berden (Raleigh-Clement) and Katerina Nash (Luna) won the elite men’s and women’s races on the opening night of action at Jingle Cross on Friday.

Berden eked out a close victory over teammate James Driscoll, who was just two seconds behind him. Brian Matter (Momentum Endurance Coaching) was a few more ticks behind in third.

In its 10th year, the event is taking place at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Iowa City, Iowa.

Nash crossed the line a comfortable 10 seconds ahead of Courtenay McFadden (GE Capital-American Classic) to earn the victory. Meredith Miller (Noosa) rounded out the podium in third.
