Busche transfers to UnitedHealthcare
Matthew Busche leaves WorldTour Trek team to join U.S.-based UnitedHealthcare, a Pro Continental squad, for 2016.

Reigning U.S. national road race champion Matthew Busche will bring his stars-and-stripes jersey to the UnitedHealthcare team next season, the team announced Tuesday. “It’s great to have a USA national champion racing for us in 2016. He is a solid rider in one-day races and weeklong stage races, alike. Both of which are clear goals for us here at the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team,” said the team general manager Mike Tamayo. “His consistency in the general classification standings at stage races is something we can help turn into podiums next season. On this team, we rally behind clear goals and we have some plans that will be exciting to watch in 2016.”
Busche, 30, transfers from the Trek Factory Racing team. He’s been part of that outfit, in its various iterations, since 2010. He’s won two elite national titles in his career so far, the first coming in 2011.
“I’m very excited and thankful for the opportunity to be joining the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team,” Busche said. “It is a great group of riders and staff, and I’m really looking forward to racing with them in 2016. I’m eager to work with and for my teammates to achieve their goals, as well as having their help and support to achieve my goals. It is a real family environment within the team and I’m really happy to join that. We haven’t laid out a specific race program yet, but primary goals are likely to be the three American [stage] races. I know the team is going to do everything possible to help me get back to the top of my racing potential, so I’m excited to get the season underway!”
