PRESS RELEASE:

Responding to a flood of recent inquiries CrossVegas organizer Brook Watts reminds everyone that registration for the early cross season classic opens August 1st. “Every year the anticipation grows bigger and bigger and I guess this year people are just really itching to race CrossVegas or they’re worried they may miss out on the limited spots,” commented Watts, “the phone and e-mails have been increasing steadily in the last few weeks.”

Registration for the biggest cyclocross race in the U.S. CrossVegas registration opens on August 1st at Noon Eastern Time for all categories. Categories include Elite Men, Elite Women and the Wheelers & Dealers race for bicycle industry members attending Interbike.

The 2010 edition of CrossVegas is scheduled Wednesday Sept. 22nd in Las Vegas following the first day of the Interbike show. Heading into its fourth year, CrossVegas has become a fixture on the U.S. cyclocross calendar attracting almost 10,000 spectators to the stadium setting of Desert Breeze Soccer Complex in Las Vegas.

Registration is limited for each category to 100 racers and is expected to fill rapidly. Complete details will be available on the website www.crossvegas.com over the next few weeks.

Food and beverages, including Sierra Nevada beer, are available at CrossVegas beginning at 6:00 pm with racing starting at 7:00 pm. In addition, Interbike will again provide a free shuttle bus throughout the night from The Sands Convention Center for anyone with an Interbike show badge.

Jamey Driscoll of the Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com team won the 2009 Elite Men’s race. Katie Compton of Planet Bike repeated as Elite Women’s winner. Jon Cariveau of MOOTS won the Men’s Wheelers & Dealers title with Katy Steudel of Hayes Bicycle Group repeating as Women’s champ.

In addition to the Elite categories, the Wheelers & Dealers offers divisions for Men, Women, Media, Manufacturer, Retailer, Distributor and Advocacy. It’s the race for bragging rights among the bike industry.

CrossVegas 2010 promises a great show for racers and fans alike. Hinting that a few surprises are yet to come for rider announcements Watts concluded, “It’s the talk of the international cyclocross community, everyone from across the world wants to race in Las Vegas.”

CrossVegas sponsors include TRP, Sierra Nevada Beer, Clif Bar, Vermarc, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Schlamm, Clement Tires, Mountain Bike Magazine, Bicycling Magazine and Clark County Parks & Recreation Department.
