Squirt Lube sues former distributor for counterfeiting

The South African owners of Squirt Lube have won a restraining order against its former U.S. distributor, Squirt LLC, alleging that the distributor has been selling counterfeit Squirt lube.

“Our previous distributor in the U.S. supplied distributors and the market generally with counterfeit Squirt Lube,” said Dewet Marais, co-owner of Squirt Lube, to Bicycle Retailer and Industry News. “We would like all relevant sections of the industry — wholesalers, retailers, consumers — to know we are actively working to protect our brand.”

We tested Squirt Lube as part of the recent lube efficiency test in Velo Magazine, and it did very well. In fact, it’s the most efficient drip lube we’ve ever tested. We have since confirmed that the lube tested was real Squirt, and not a counterfeit.

Real Squirt lube is sold in bottles with a blue cap, while the counterfeit lube was sold in bottles with a white cap.
