With its large vents and swooping lines, the Protone blends the best of traditional and aero helmet design. The faux leather chinstrap is comfortable against the chin but does take some time to break in.

The helmet’s wispy retention system holds snugly and wraps low on the back of the head, though in the lowest position it can interfere with sunglasses.

It felt very light on our heads and offers an interesting in-between option for those who want aero technology but not a pure aero-road helmet like a Giro Air Attack. One lid to rule them all
